Amazon QuickSight – ABS Function

Amazon QuickSight – ABS Function

The ABS function in Amazon QuickSight returns the absolute value of a number.

Syntax

#Start#
abs(expression)
#End#

This function takes one argument

  1. number: a numerical value or a column that contains numerical values.

Example

#Start#
ABS(-5)
#End#

This will return the absolute value of -5, which is 5.

The ABS function can be useful in data analysis and reporting when you want to eliminate the effect of negative values. For example, you could use this function to calculate the absolute value of sales changes to determine the magnitude of change regardless of whether sales increased or decreased.
