Amazon QuickSight – epochDate

The epochDate function in Amazon QuickSight converts an epoch timestamp to a date value. The function takes one argument, which is the epoch timestamp that you want to convert.

Syntax

#Start#
epochDate(epochdate)
#End#

This function takes one argument

  • epochdate: parameter is the epoch timestamp that you want to convert. An epoch timestamp is a representation of a point in time as the number of seconds (or milliseconds) that have elapsed since a specific reference time known as the “epoch”. In QuickSight, epoch timestamps are represented as integers or decimal numbers.

When you apply the epochDate function to an epoch timestamp, QuickSight converts the timestamp to a date value and returns the result. The date value is formatted as a string in ISO 8601 date format (yyyy-MM-dd). If the epoch timestamp includes a fractional part, QuickSight truncates the fractional part before performing the conversion.

For example, if you have a data set that includes a column for epoch timestamps and you want to create a new column that shows the corresponding date values, you can use the epochDate function to perform the conversion.

Example

#Start#
epochDate(EpochTimestamp)
#End#

This expression would convert the ‘EpochTimestamp’ value to a date value and return the result in the new column.
