Dynamic Domain Name System
Dynamic Domain Name System or DDNS is the method of automatically updating a name server in the DNS. It mostly happens in real-time. The information is usually sent by the DHCP or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
Advantages:
The advantages of DDNS are as follows:
- It saves time as the work needed to update addresses upon network configuration changes doesn’t need to be done manually.
- It saves space.
- It does not affect the accessibility of the users.
- It is comfortable for the users as the change in IP address does not affect their activities.
Disadvantages:
The disadvantages of DDNS are as follows:
- It is less reliable.
- DDNS cannot guarantee the device you are trying to connect to is your own.
Uses
The uses of DDNS are as follows:
- It is used for internet access.
- It is used for security appliance manufacturing.
