Cobalt Powers Infosys’ AI Growth Under Topaz Platform

Infosys, India’s second-largest IT services provider, continues to strengthen its AI and generative AI (GenAI) offerings through its Cobalt platform. Launched four years ago, Cobalt was initially designed to facilitate clients’ cloud-led digital transformations. With the introduction of Topaz, an AI-first solution, Infosys is now positioning Cobalt as a critical enabler for AI-driven projects.

Topaz builds upon the foundation laid by Cobalt, creating a robust data fabric for deploying GenAI solutions. As businesses increasingly look to cloud-based solutions, the need for a strong infrastructure has become vital. “To drive GenAI use cases, customers need a reliable cloud foundation,” explains Anant Adya, Executive VP and Head of Cobalt at Infosys Americas. He further noted that GenAI is set to fuel substantial cloud consumption in the near future.

Cobalt is now seen as a funnel for many of Infosys’ AI and GenAI-led deals, signaling its maturity in the market. Four years ago, Cobalt primarily supported IT efficiency projects, but today, the focus has shifted to driving business transformation. “Now, 60-70% of our business is centered on growth, disruption, and transformation,” says Adya.

In FY23, Infosys’ digital business, which includes cloud and AI initiatives, accounted for 62.9% of its revenue, growing by 25.6%. Looking ahead, GenAI is expected to see significant adoption in the second half of 2024 as more clients move beyond proof-of-concept stages and start deploying these technologies in real-world applications.

The platform strategy employed by Infosys, encompassing both Cobalt and Topaz, is proving to be a long-term solution for seamless execution across various projects. This integrated approach enables the company to accelerate its clients’ digital journeys with advanced tools and technologies.
