Google Cloud announces machine images to simplify data science workflows

Google launches Machine images that Compute Engine resource in Google Cloud that contains all the information required to create, back up, or restore a virtual machine. Google claims that it will reduce the time of data scientists and network admins spend managing their cloud environments by eliminating extra steps and streamlining operations.

The market value of this Public cloud computing technology that’s intertwined with machine learning and AI is predicted to exceed $330 billion in market value this year, with companies average yearly cloud budget exceeding $2.2 million.

In contrast to Custom images that captures the contents of a single disk in machine images. It contains multiple disks as well as other data required to create a new instance.

These new model images includes properties like, machine type, volume mapping, and labels, network tags; the data of all attached disks; instance metadata; and permissions and this includes service account used to create the instance.

Once images are created on machine from an instance, the instance information and disk data are stored into a single resource, the location of which can be specified from the Google Cloud dashboard. These instance are restored at a time, all that’s required is providing the machine image and a new instance name.

Amazon Machine Image is a virtual type appliance that’s used to create a virtual machine within Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud service. They are read-only file system images that include an operating system.
