IT Hiring Trends: August Shows Decline Overall, but AI-ML Jobs Surge by 14%
According to a recent report from job portal Naukri.com, August 2024 witnessed a 3% year-on-year decline in overall white-collar hiring activity. Despite this, the IT sector remained relatively stable with only a 1% growth compared to the same period last year.
Notably, the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) emerged as a standout performer with a significant 14% increase in job opportunities over the past year. This growth underscores the rising demand for expertise in these cutting-edge technologies.
In addition to AI-ML, several other sectors experienced notable growth in hiring. The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector saw an 11% increase, while the pharma and biotech industries enjoyed a 9% rise. The oil and gas sector also recorded a 5% uptick in hiring activities during August 2024.
