On Thursday, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), introduced ‘Jio Brain’, a new suite of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and platforms designed to democratize access to AI technology. Speaking at the 47th annual general meeting of RIL, Ambani emphasized that AI should be accessible to everyone, not just a privileged few.

Empowering Businesses with Jio Brain

Reliance Industries is integrating Jio Brain across its operations to enhance decision-making, improve predictions, and better understand customer needs within Reliance Jio and other RIL subsidiaries. Ambani anticipates that refining Jio Brain within the company will enable Reliance to offer this advanced AI service platform to other businesses.

‘AI Everywhere For Everyone’ Vision

Ambani highlighted that AI services should not be confined to high-end devices but should be available on all types of devices. This initiative is part of Jio’s broader vision to make AI universally accessible.

Targeted AI Initiatives

Jio’s AI efforts will initially focus on sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, and small businesses. Among the new offerings, the JioPhonecall AI will enable users to record, transcribe, and translate phone conversations, making it easier to search, share, and understand information across different languages. Additionally, the company is launching the Jio AI-Cloud Welcome offer, providing users with up to 100 GB of free cloud storage.

Cloud-Based AI Services

To facilitate widespread AI adoption, Ambani stressed the importance of cloud-hosted AI services, which allow users to access data and AI capabilities from any device with minimal latency. This approach, termed ‘connected intelligence,’ aims to enhance accessibility and efficiency.

Commitment to Affordable AI

RIL is dedicated to making powerful AI models and services available across India at affordable prices. As part of this commitment, Jio plans to build gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar, supported by Reliance’s green energy initiatives. Additionally, the company will establish multiple AI inference facilities across the country.
