Mumbai to Host India’s Largest Gen AI Hackathon with Over 2,000 Developers
Mumbai is set to host one of the world’s largest generative AI (Gen AI) hackathons this month, drawing over 2,000 developers. In collaboration with NVIDIA, Meta, Quantiphi, and ATLAS SkillTech University, the event, named MumbaiHacks, is spearheaded by the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM) and Made in Mumbai. The hackathon is part of a larger AI Week celebration, coinciding with NVIDIA’s flagship AI Summit, one of three major AI conferences worldwide, along with Washington D.C. and Japan.
Aakrit Vaish, co-chair of TEAM and advisor to the India AI Mission, emphasized the importance of this event:
“MumbaiHacks will bring together the brightest minds in Gen AI to address today’s pressing technological challenges, positioning Mumbai at the forefront of AI-driven innovation.”
TEAM aims to democratize AI innovation, welcoming not only developers but also thought leaders from various sectors including policy, civil society, business, and creative arts to ensure a well-rounded approach to AI solutions. The third edition of MumbaiHacks introduces a new format, judged by a distinguished jury of industry leaders like filmmaker Siddharth Roy Kapur, journalist Faye Dsouza, and Vivek Khemani, co-founder of Quantiphi.
This event not only reinforces Mumbai’s status as a tech hub but also pushes forward the conversation around Gen AI in India, offering exciting new opportunities for developers and innovators across industries.
