Power BI – Direct Data Entry
Power BI Desktop allows you to enter data directly into reports and visualizations. You can paste portions of a workbook or web page into Power BI Desktop, for example.
From the Home ribbon, select Enter data to enter data directly into Power BI Desktop.
When you load data from any source, Power BI Desktop may attempt to make minor changes to the data. As an example, the first row of data was promoted to a header in the following example.
Select Edit to open Power Query Editor if you would like to shape the data you entered or pasted. Data can be shaped and transformed before being imported into Power BI Desktop. The data will be imported as it appears when you select Load.
The Fields pane shows a new table created from your data when you select Load. I have created two fields in my new table, Table1, as shown in the following image in Power BI Desktop.
Power BI Desktop is now ready to use the data. Any other data you want to connect to and import, such as Excel workbooks, databases, or any other data source, can be used to create visuals, reports, or interact with them.
To update, add, or delete data within items created by Enter Data, you must make the changes in Power BI Desktop and publish them. Updates to data cannot be made directly from Power BI.
