Robot compliment teachers in Bengaluru School
Replicating human behavior is a very challenging and complex process. People invent robots and can choose what aspects of functionality and design are important. A Robot can emulate human-like gestures; they can do physical tasks and be present in our environments.
The physical presence gives a lot of different benefits in relation to engagement and social presence. There are many attractive and unique applications that can be brought into the world and robotics holds a lot of promise.
By this inspiration, Artificial Intelligence (AI) are making their way into classrooms as humanoid robots to teach students and interact with them as teachers do, at a school in Bengaluru.
The main purpose of these robots are, Though the 5 foot 7 inch robots, dressed in formal female attire, do not replace real teachers, they complement them in teaching lessons, They clarify doubts in subjects and reply to FAQs (frequently asked questions) from students.
Vignesh Rao, chief design officer of Indus International School’s says that, we have programmed the interactive robots to answer questions students frequently ask on the subjects and related to them. The robots are able to respond to questions and doubts of our wards after a lesson is taught.
The teacher concerts with the robot and brings out the key concepts, relevance and application of the lesson being taught, said Rao, who also heads the project.
It is not possible to replace Robots with humans as counterparts but will work collaboratively with teachers as a tool or assistant to enhance the learning experience for the students in the classroom, added Lt. General Ray.
