What is SEO?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) includes steps to improve the position of the website in search results. The ultimate goal of SEO is to attract more and more quality visitors to the site from organic search.

Let’s break this description down to get a better understanding:

1. Position in search results – when a user enters a search query, Google displays a list of results. The results in the upper part of the first page attract the most attention, so it is important to get to position 1-3 of the results of search results, it is also important to have a large number of words on which such results will be realized.

2. Quality visitors – sometimes people think that the task of SEO is to get more traffic to a website, but it’s just as important that this traffic be quality.

Example:

A locksmith in Birmingham in the US state of Alabama will not get any benefit from a site visitor who is looking for a locksmith in Birmingham in England.

3. Increasing the number of visitors – if quality visitors come to the site, the more there are, the better.

4. Organic Search – The search results page usually consists of paid ads and organic delivery. SEO concerns only organic delivery.

Do I have to optimize my site?

You can attract visitors to your site through organic search, but you can also get visitors from other sources.

Example:

1. links from other sites (referral links);

2. social networks;

3. email newsletters;

4. contextual advertising;

5. offline marketing and more;

In the ideal case, you attract quality visitors to your site from several sources, but organic search will almost always be the most important. In fact, for most websites, organic search is the main source of traffic, while for others it is secondary.

So do you need SEO?  If you attract visitors to your site through organic search, or you want to attract more, then you need search engine promotion. How much resources are required depends on your website, business, online strategy and marketing goals, but SEO cannot be left to chance.

Overview of Search Engine Principles and SEO Goals

When a user performs a search on Google – or any other search engine – they want to receive an answer to their query, and the goal of Google is to provide this answer. This includes shifting through millions of web pages and displaying them in order. From Google’s point of view, “in order” means placing sites that are most likely to respond to a user’s request in the top positions of the first page in the search results.

This is an important principle:

Google’s goal is not to collect a complete list of websites on the Internet , or to display your site in search results. All he cares about is responses to requests from its users .
