DoFollow Vs. NoFollow

DoFollow Vs. NoFollow (i2tutorials)

The DoFollow and NoFollow parameters of the a href tag are used to indicate search robots how to deal with the link found in the text. They determine whether the robot should follow this link to search indexation of the specified page or not. In coding, the setting of these parameters is as follows:

<a rel=” nofollow “href=”https://www.i2tutorials.com/”> Text of our link </a>

and

<a rel=” dofollow “href=”https://www.i2tutorials.com/”> Text of our link </a>

But not everything is so simple. So what are the threats of the Dofollow and Nofollow href tags for SEO promotion of your site, and how to use them correctly.

The dofollow attribute is specified by default, therefore it is standard, you do not need to specify it, except for the case when the attribute: nofollow is initially set for all links. In this case, the presence of the attribute is justified, in all other cases, it is a garbage code that makes the page heavier.

To set the NoFollow  meta tag robots in the title of the page you need to add the code:

<html>
<head>
<meta name = ” robots ” content = ” nofollow ” />
<title> Links on this page are not counted </ title>
</ head>
<body>

</ body>

When is it legitimate to use NoFollow?

1. A link from a site with equal or higher CYP and PR increases the page rank of the site on which the link is placed without the NoFollow attribute, therefore, to increase the popularity and profitability of its resources, SPAMERA and SPAM services leave a huge amount of your resources. By closing the links in the comments using NoFollow, you can reduce the flow of spammers attacking your site.

2. If you have a need to put a link to another resource, without losing the ranking of your page, use NoFollow is appropriate and justified.

3. Selling links – provided that you sell ” NoFollow links “, however there are disadvantages here, firstly such links cost very little, secondly – not all search engines treat this attribute with due respect.

The NoFollow parameter is recommended by the research, but not all search engines consider it.

a. Google – follows the link from nofollow, but does not consider it as a back link to the site;

b. Yahoo follows the link, but does not consider it in the page relevance counting algorithm;

c. MSN can both follow the link and skip it, but takes into account the link in the ranking algorithms.

When is it right to use DoFollow?

In fact, by placing a link to another site you transfer to it a part of your PR (page rank), thereby you improve its ranking. Accordingly, advertisers prefer to buy links from pages with higher PR. Namely, the search engines struggle with this and for this your website can be punished by the worst results in search results. But there are several cases where the use of the dofollow attribute is both justified and desirable.

Paid links high cost – placing a small number of links will not harm your site, but will increase its profitability.

Exchange links with sites with higher rates of TCI and PR.

Increasing the attendance and demand for your resource – permission to put active links in the comments of the client-oriented website may increase the attractiveness of your resource for placing thematic comments on it, which leads to an increased popularity of the resource.

However, you need to understand that an excessive amount of dofollow links can negatively affect the ranking of your own site.

Now the network is not so easy to find quality resources on which you can easily place a link to your site without nofollow. And there are so few of such resources that they are added to separate directories and databases of dofollow sites. Long ago there were communities of blog owners with dofollow in links, services for paid placement of dofollow links with high PR pages.
