Emotional management

Emotions are feelings that come out of people when they are sad, happy, excited, frustrated etc., it is a complex psychological phenomenon which occurs both in animals as well as human beings.

It is intense feeling that are directed at someone or something. It includes three:

  • Conscious experience (feelings)
  • Expressions which can be seen by others
  • Actions of the body (body posture)

Emotion are associated with

  • Mood
  • Temperament
  • Personality
  • Disposition
  • Motivation

Emotions innate in all of us, it’s something were born with and something we die with.

Happiness, sadness, love, hatred, worries & indifference – there are things that constantly occur in our daily lives.

Categories of emotions:

  • Primary Emotions.
  • Secondary Emotions.

Primary Emotions:

These are the type of emotions that are triggered in response to an event like, love, joy, anger, sadness, surprise fear.

Secondary emotions :

There are triggered where , we feel threatened or feel anger , depending on  the situation we are experiencing , like passion, optimism , irritation , disgust , shame , nervousness.

Variety of Emotions:

  • Position human emotion
  • Negative human emotion

Positive human emotion: 

one to feel good about one’s self will lead to an emotionally happy & satisfied result, few of them are;

  • Hopeful
  • Confident

If the emotions are in a positive the person will have hope and is will be confident and will think peacefully while making decision.

Negative human emotion:

They will sap your energy and undermine your effectiveness. In the negative, Emotional state, you find the lack of desire to do any anything, few of them are

  • Exhausted
  • Panic
  • Obnoxious

The people who have negative, emotions are mostly exhausted and frustrated , jealous , depressed , despair , sad, guilty , fear and ashamed off while doing things / for making decisions.

Factors affecting emotions: 

  • Personality
  • Culture
  • Whether
  • Stress
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Environmental

Personality: These are the set of individual differences that effect the emotions of individual.

Culture: The ideas, customs and social behavior of a particular individual / who effect ones emotions.

Weather: A state of atmosphere at a particular place & time also effects the emotions of an individual.

Stress: If the pressure of tensions extended on particular individuals who lead to affection one’s own emotions

Age: After certain age of an individual, the emotional situations will be more as they are no more in a state to handle the situation.

Gender: An individual who is male / female depends up on the situation, as they take it. If they are not able to control, the outcome would be  worst.

Environment: The surrounding / Conditions in which an individual lives or operates who effects the emotions easily if the individual is not happy, defiantly it leads to negative emotions.

How to perceive emotions:

  • Body posture: The way we hold our bodies when we walk, stand and sit give clues to others about own emotional state.
  • It clues them in to how relaxed or tense we are and how confident or shy we are depending on how close we are standing to another person, it can also show aggression or love, dominance or submission.
  • We may choose our words carefully when we’re angry or expressing happiness.
  • One emotion causes us not only to feel differently, but also to speak differently.
  • Our speech pattern also changes depending on our emotional state.
  • Our regular cadence can increase or decrease in rate, and pitch, tone, volume & even accent may also be affected.

It deals with the ability to manage emotions effectively and is a key part of emotional intelligence regulating emotions, responding appropriately and responding to the emotions of others are all important aspect of emotional management.
