What Are the Best PHP Frameworks in 2023?

There is no definitive list of PHP frameworks available. According to Wikipedia, there are 40 PHP frameworks available, but some of these are better classified as content management systems, and there are certainly other frameworks available.

A few of the early PHP frameworks include PHPlib, Horde, and Pear. As far as big names today are concerned, most of them were launched between 2005 and now.

The following is a list of some of the best PHP frameworks that are being used today.

  1. Laravel
  2. Symfony
  3. CodeIgniter
  4. Zend Framework / Laminas Project
  5. Yii (Framework)
  6. CakePHP
  7. Slim
  8. Phalcon
  9. FuelPHP
  10. Fat-Free Framework

Laravel

A PHP framework called Laravel promotes itself as “the PHP framework for web artists.” It was designed by Taylor Otwell, who wanted to create a framework that had elements that CodeIgniter lacked, such as user authentication, and so this framework was born.

Symfony

As well as being a PHP framework, Symfony is also a collection of PHP components that allow you to build your own website.

CodeIgniter

You can build web apps quickly using CodeIgniter as it has minimal configuration requirements.

Zend Framework / Laminas Project

The Zend Framework is a PHP framework that has been around for a long time, and is now transitioning to the Laminas Project. Due to the fact that Zend is no longer being updated, we strongly recommend migrating to Laminas.

Yii (Framework)

Yii, the name of this framework, is derived from a Chinese phrase that means “simple and evolutionary”. In addition to that, it also stands for “Yes, It Is! ”

CakePHP

With CakePHP, you can develop PHP applications quickly and cleanly.

Slim

Slim is a stripped-down, agile, micro PHP framework that was created by Josh Lockhart to simplify and speed up PHP development. An HTTP request is received, a callback is invoked, and a response is returned in response to the HTTP request.

Phalcon

Phalcon is a PHP framework built for speed. It is delivered as a web server extension written in Zephir and C. No knowledge of C is necessary. Developers work with the PHP classes and namespaces the framework generates.

FuelPHP

There have been over 300 contributors to FuelPHP over the years, making it a community-driven PHP framework.

Fat-Free Framework

In the same way that Slim is a micro-framework, Fat-Free Framework (F3) is the same. There is an emphasis on striking the right balance between useful features, simplicity, ease of use, and speed in this application.
